UNDP Helps Improve Management Capacity for Vietnam Women

The UN Development Program (UNDP) has helped Vietnam hold a training course on improving management capacity for women in the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The training course, the first of its kind in Vietnam, is aimed to boost the Gender Empowerment Measure (GEM) among local women in the country where has nearly 26% of female parliamentarians. In fact, Vietnamese women are mostly excluded from important policy making while domestic violence seems to be rising as up to 58% of married women suffered one of violent types including physical, sexual and emotional one.
