UNDP Pledges Support for Vietnam’s Circular Agriculture Development

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) pledged to support Vietnam in developing circular agriculture, said Chief Resident Representative of the UNDP Vietnam Ramla Khalidi.

Affirming at a dialogue co-hosted by the UNDP and Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Hanoi on July 8, Ms. Khalidi commended Vietnam’s efforts in implementing international commitments on nationally determined contributions.

She also emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation to build and implement circular policies, appropriate investment allocation, and increased knowledge sharing. Additionally, the UNDP representative highlighted the importance of making significant progress in financial access for farmers and small and medium enterprises.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien stressed the importance of developing a circular economy in agriculture.

He called for the active involvement of the international community, local authorities, and the private sector to achieve ten goals and six tasks for circular agriculture, part of the Project on Science Development and Application, Technology Transfer to Promote Circular Economy in Agriculture by 2030.
