UNDP, USAID Launch App to Support Vietnamese People with Disabilities

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have jointly launched a mobile application to support Vietnamese people with disabilities, state media reported. The Vietnam Federation of Disability (VFD) hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on April 18 to encourage people with disabilities to use the D.Map app. The event also marked the Vietnam Day of Persons with Disabilities. The app helps people with disabilities and the elderly find places such as parks, offices, restaurants, and other locations. According to the VFD, Vietnam currently has nearly eight million people with disabilities, or 7.8% of the population, the national broadcaster Vietnam Television (VTV) reported. Since 2016, the USAID has granted supportive equipment to 2,835 people with disabilities in Vietnam’s central provinces of Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, and Thua Thien Hue.
