Unexploded Vietnam War Bomb Causes Chaos in Southern Town

A neighborhood in southern Vietnam has been living in fear since an unexploded war era bomb was found here. The bomb was partly discovered under a house in Thanh Binh quarter, Dong Xoai Town, when its owner was digging the ground to build a composting toilet. The house is located in a busy residential area, right next to a kindergarten and a bank office. A police cordon was set up around the house, but local residents have not been evacuated. Local authorities said they are waiting for the army bomb squad to remove the Vietnam War ordnance. The VietnamPlus news website quoted local veterans as saying that the bomb may be a U.S. Army "bunker buster," weighing up to 500 lb (230 kg) and measuring up to 1.8 meter in length.
