UNFPA Vows to Help Vietnam Enhance Capacity for Gender Equality Works

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) pledges to support Vietnam in enhancing its capability for works related to gender equality and women and children’s affairs, said new UNFPA Representative in Vietnam Matthew David Jackson.

The UNFPA representative made his statement at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung in Hanoi on September 26.

Mr. Jackson hoped that the ministry would soon approve two UNFPA projects on gender equality/selection and support for the elderly in Vietnam.

He affirmed that the organization is willing to share experience with and assist Vietnam in the fields of gender equality, social security, aging population response, climate change adaption, and others at the request of Minister Dung.

Minister Dung, for his part, highly appreciated UNFPA’s support for Vietnam in various areas, especially gender equality. He expected the UNFPA official to help the country implement two projects covering gender-based violence response and social security enhancement in the coming years. (Bao Dan Sinh, MoLISA, Dan Tri)
