UNIDO-Implemented Project Helps Save 2.91M GJ of Energy in Vietnam Annually

A project on promoting the use and operation of energy efficient industrial boilers in Vietnam, under the execution of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, helped save nearly 2.91 million gigajoules (GJ) of energy annually in the country in five years of its deployment. The figure was announced at a workshop to wrap up the project, which was held in the capital city of Hanoi on November 11 by the two sides. Besides, the project helped reduce 487,866 tons of CO2 emissions each year. The actual results of the project have exceeded the initial targets of saving nearly 1.96 million GJ of energy and reducing 183,736 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Under the project, 72 industrial enterprises replaced low-efficiency boilers with higher-efficiency ones or efficient biomass boilers. In addition, 159 firms implemented solutions to improve boiler efficiency. (Bo Cong Thuong, moit, tietkiemnangluong)
