U.S.-based United Healthcare Inc. started on Sept. 21 the construction of a medical equipment plant worth VND219 billion ($10.33 million) in Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous city of Vietnam. The facility is designed to produce 18.000 bare metal Stent units annually, meeting 12% of the demand and 60.000 non-drug and drug eluting balloon units to provide treatment devices for people with heart diseases.
The factory will provide the high-quality medical tools that will be 80% cheaper than imported products in the domestic market. It is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2016 to help reduce the imports and treatment charges for cardiovascular illness. (Sai Gon Giai Phong – Saigon Liberation Sept 23)
