U.S.-Funded $1.5M Project for People with Disabilities Runs in Vietnam Dong Nai

The Department of Health in Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai on November 27 launched a ceremony of implementing a VND35.3 billion ($1.5M) project, which was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), of rights enforcement and treatment for provincial residents with disabilities, local media reported. Out of the figure, VND700 million will be sourced from the provincial budget. The program will be co-fulfilled by the provincial health department, the local union of friendship organizations, and Vietnam Assistance for The Handicapped from October 2019 to September 2023. It is expected that about 2,500-3,000 disabled people will receive function recovery treatments, and 1,000 medical staff will be trained for professional enhancement. Currently, Dong Nai province has 154,000 people with disabilities, including 12,400 severely disabled ones and 17,300 badly incapacitated individuals. (Phap Luat Plus, Phap Luat Plus, baodongnai)
