Vietcombank to Serve $180M New Model University Project

The State Bank of Vietnam, the country’s central bank, has appointed the partly-privatized lender Vietcombank as the service bank for the $180-million Vietnam-Germany University project funded by the World Bank. Vietcombank is responsible of disbursing the fund for the project, the central bank said on its website Feb 21. The Vietnam-Germany University (VGU) is expected to become a Vietnam’s leading education and scientific research center which will also meet regional and international standards. The VGU, the first international public university to be founded in Vietnam, is part of a long-term plan of the Ministry of Education and Planning and the government’s policy to build world-class universities nationwide.
