Vietnam’s Biggest City Confirms 94 Cases of Zika Virus
Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City health officials have recently confirmed nine more cases of Zika virus, raising the city’s total to 94, state media reported. To date, 19 out of 24 rural and urban districts of Ho Chi Minh City have reported Zika patients, the center said, adding that Binh Thanh District alone has had 19 cases. The local health sector has also called on the community to take the initiative in fighting the virus by cooperating with health workers in cleaning the environment. Vietnam now has a total of 105 Zika cases, reported throughout the central and southern regions. According to the World Health Organization, Zika outbreaks have been reported in around 70 countries and territories. Currently there is no vaccine or specific medicine to treat the disease.
