Vietnam Agro Ministry Seeks Further Support from ADB: Deputy Minister
Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) expects to receive further support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for relevant projects, Deputy Minister Hoang Trung said.
Mr. Trung made the proposal while hosting an ADB delegation led by Mr. Jiangfeng Zhang, director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office on November 3.
Lauding ADB’s past assistance to Vietnam’s agricultural sector, Mr. Trung informed that the MARD is now finalizing procedures for authorities’ approval of two ADB-aided projects on climate-resilient agricultural infrastructure development and chemical use reduction. The ministry hopes to get support from ADB’s experts to quicken the projects for the soonest possible implementation.
Currently, the MARD is building schemes on increasing the use of organic fertilizers and bio plant protection products, expecting to receive assistance from ADB, he added.
Mr. Jiangfeng Zhang, in reply, affirmed that ADB is willing to provide utmost support for Vietnam’s agricultural sector and work with the Vietnamese side to hasten existing and future relevant projects.
