Vietnam Always Wants to Promote Educational Cooperation with U.S.: Official
Vietnam always wants to promote cooperation with the U.S. in various sectors, including education and training, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said.
Mr. Phuc made the statement at a meeting in Hanoi on April 19 with the Chairman of Fulbright University Vietnam and the external evaluation team from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Highly valuing the educational activities of Fulbright University Vietnam, Deputy Minister Phuc emphasized the need for the university to develop academic disciplines to attract outstanding students and faculty members and create job opportunities for graduates.
Currently, the strengths of Fulbright University Vietnam lie in public management programs, finance, banking, and programs related to economics, he pointed out, adding that if the university expands training to humanities, arts, and engineering, a clear roadmap and strategy are necessary.
Regarding Fulbright University Vietnam's registration and implementation of self-assessment according to NEASC standards, which is an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, he affirmed that the assessment results of NEASC are valid in Vietnam when NEASC is licensed to operate in the Southeast Asian country.
Both sides exchanged views about issues related to evaluation criteria, financial reporting, professional activities, management, operation of training programs, accreditation procedures, and liberal education.
Fulbright University Vietnam is an independent university with 100% foreign investment funded by the U.S. Government, operating on a non-profit basis. The university was established in May 2016.
