Vietnam Ambassador Highlights UNESCO's Role in Promoting Global Education
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN, emphasized Vietnam's active support for UNESCO's role in promoting global education as a member of UNESCO's Executive Board.
Ambassador Giang made this statement at the ambassador-level meeting of the Group of Friends on Education and Lifelong Learning in New York on May 15.
The ambassador praised the Group of Friends for advancing significant educational commitments in the draft document for the 2024 UN Summit of the Future, the most important UN event of the year, and suggested that the group continue to promote a unified stance in other forums.
Ambassador Giang also proposed organizing activities with other UN member states to enhance dialogue and share information on important educational initiatives, experiences, and best practices.
The Group of Friends on Education and Lifelong Learning was established in 2020 on the occasion of the International Day of Education on January 24 and currently has nearly 50 members. The group aims to promote education within the UN agenda and share initiatives and best practices to ensure the right to education among member states.
