Vietnam Association for Victims of Dioxin Asks for Resumption of Lawsuit

The Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) has just proposed the U.S. resume a lawsuit by Vietnamese victims against 37 U.S. chemical firms, including Monsanto and Dow Chemical. Major General Tran Ngoc Tho, who is former chief of staff of Military Region 7 and currently Vice Chairman of VAVA and chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, sent a letter on April 16 to the U.S. courts for the cause. The Vietnamese side wants U.S. firms, which produced the dioxin for the Vietnam War, to support and help Vietnamese victims overcome the consequences. Recently, Monsanto lost two lawsuits against Edwin Hardeman and Dewayne Johnson and Monsanto herbicides were detected to partly cause cancer. (Vietnam Plus)
