Vietnam, Belgium Promote Cooperation in Water Treatment

Hanoi Sewerage and Drainage Company of Vietnam’s Hanoi city and HydroScan NV from Belgium signed a memorandum of understanding in Hanoi on September 12 to promote cooperation in water treatment, state media reported.

The deal conclusion was witnessed by Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi Le Hong Son and Mr. Jan Jambon, minister cum president of the Government of Flanders.

Per the pact, the two companies will promote technical cooperation within the Belgian government’s non-refundable ODA grant program aimed at transferring smart water management technology to the Vietnamese side.

The Vietnamese company is expected to receive Belgium’s support for the city’s smart water treatment project, which applies modern drainage management technology to prevent and handle risks in order to improve efficiency and optimize Hanoi’s drainage system.

Earlier, Vice Mayor Son and Minister-President of Flanders Jan Jambon held talks to expand collaboration between the two localities in dealing with water pollution.
