Vietnam to Build Pediatrics, Kidney Hospitals in Hanoi

The Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture has publicized a plan to build Pediatrics Hospital and Kidney Hospital in Ha Dong District, the Thoi Bao Kinh Doanh newspaper reported on May 15. The two hospitals will be built on a total area of 71.918 square meters. The Pediatrics Hospital will occupy 13,444 square meters with a capacity of 500 beds and Kidney Hospital will occupy 9,687 square meters with 250 beds. The overall the project is divided into four main functional areas including Pediatrics Hospital, Kidney Hospital, the service central and infrastructure areas. All areas will be connected with each other through internal transport system. The two hospitals will match the demand for medical services of the residents living in the surrounding area of west Hanoi, said Deputy Head of People’s Committee of Ha Dong district Vu Ngoc Phung, adding that the district authority will push toward land clearance and make sure the project completed on time. Currently, Vietnam has a total of 260,058 hospital beds, which means the bed availability rate is 28.1 beds/10,000 residents. (Thoi Bao Kinh Doanh – Business Times May 5 p4)
