Vietnam Builds Tree Map Database, Responding to 1B-tree Program

Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) has built a digital tree map database named Tree Map to serve the identification of planting sites as well as tree management nationwide, towards the goal of planting one billion trees during 2021-2025 of the Vietnamese government, state media reported. The map’s database included information about tree species, the planting process, and the characteristics of trees during the growing process. The application will help State management agencies assess the current tree distribution, identify specific planting sites, monitor the growth and development process after planting, and connect tree resources and land funds for planting trees. Vietnam sets a goal to plant 182 million trees in 2021, up 1.5 times y/y. (Vietnam Plus, vietnamplus.vn, vietnamnews.vn, baotintuc.vn, baochinhphu.vn, baodantoc.vn)
