Vietnam, Cambodia Sign MoU to Promote Disaster Response Cooperation

Vietnam’s National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the National Committee for Disaster Management of Cambodia sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in natural disaster response and risk mitigation.

The signing ceremony took place in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on October 12, as part of the 11th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM).

Per the pact, both sides will discuss policies, laws, regulations, and standards related to emergency management in natural disasters and foster collaboration in monitoring and early warning disasters and staff training.

They also boost the application of information technology and advanced equipment, as well as information sharing, in establishing a system to provide national emergency supplies.

In addition, both countries vowed to strengthen ties within the regional cooperation framework, such as the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER). (CAND, Dan Tri, Nong Nghiep, Vietnam Plus)
