Vietnam Can Vaccinate 70% of Population against COVID by Early 2022: Expert

Vietnam can vaccinate 70% of its total population against COVID-19 from late 2021 to early 2022 with its more efforts and sufficient vaccine supplies, said Professor Dang Duc Anh, director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Mr. Anh said that Vietnam has launched 11,000-12,000 vaccination points and has strived to inoculate at least 100 people at each point. Local health authorities will gradually increase the number of vaccination points and vaccinated people daily from the current figure of only 20,000-30,000 shots, Mr. Anh revealed, adding that all vaccination points will operate at their full capacity from early August. So far, Vietnam has recorded some anaphylaxis post-vaccination cases in the range of the World Health Organization’s recommendations, with from one to four serious anaphylaxis cases out of one million shots. As of July 27, Vietnam provided nearly 5.01 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for locals, 450,836 of whom got enough two jabs, the health ministry said. (Thanh Nien)
