Vietnam Citizens No Longer Need to Carry Paper Health Cards for Treatment
From now on, Vietnamese citizens no longer need to carry paper health insurance cards when seeking medical examination and treatment, local media reported.
According to the February 2024 report on the implementation of Project 06 by the Vietnam Social Security (VSS), 100% of health facilities under the health insurance program have deployed health insurance services using chip-embedded Citizen Identification Cards.
The report further indicated that there have been over 60.2 million successful inquiries into health insurance information using chip-embedded cards for medical procedures.
Local social security agencies have so far resolved 615,863 requests for health insurance cards for children under six years old and 7,678 requests for funeral cost support.
