Vietnam to Complete Japan-funded Railway Bridge Rehabilitation Project Soon

Vietnam Railways Corporation will officially complete the Hanoi-HCM City Railway Bridge Rehabilitation Project funded by the Japanese government on Jan. 14, eight months ahead of schedule. The VND9.28 trillion ($412.4 million) project on increasing safety on the North-South railway includes construction of 44 railway bridges, a railway station and other facilities. With annual GDP growth of 7% over the past 20 years, population growth of one million people per annum and fast urbanization, Vietnam needs a wider urban railway network to meet the growing demand for traveling and doing business, experts said.
