Vietnam Completes Fixing Problems of Fire at Rang Dong Plant

The chemical unit of the army on October 5 completed the detoxification of 30,000 square meters near the fire of the warehouse of Rangdong Light Source and Vacuum Flask JSC (HOSE: RAL) and then the authorities last weekend finished the delivery of 2,600 tons of toxic waste there to the treatment locations, state media reported. The fire at Hanoi-based RAL warehouse happened on August 28 and was shut down after about nine hours. The damages were about VND150 billion ($6.44 million), including 480,000 fluorescent laMPS, two million round bulbs, and 1.6 million compacts bulbs. The authorities estimated that 15.1 kilograms-27.2 kilograms of mercury were leaked out because of the fires. The spreading areas could be in the radius of 1.5 kilometers and the polluted areas could be in the radius of 500 meters. RAL is seeking helps in tax to relocate the plants to Hoa Lac high-tech park.
