Vietnam Continues to Contribute to Global Green Growth

Vietnam will take part in the Global Green Growth Forum–the 3GF Summit 2016 in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 6-7, to mark its efforts in the global programs against climate change and on green growth. The Vietnamese delegation at the 3GF Summit led by Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Tran Hong Ha will make remarks together with Danish Prime Minister at the headline session of the Summit, highlighting joint efforts in boosting green growth. At the event titled “A call to Action – Enabling Solutions at Speed and Scale”, the Vietnamese ministry and Danish Ministry of Environment and Food will discuss strategic cooperation in the environmental sector, including environmental disaster prevention, pollution control, and food safety. This year’s 3GF Summit, which will attract more than 250 top leaders from all over the world, is aimed to create innovative collaboration and tangible green solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges, addressing energy, food loss, as well as waste, climate, and sustainable cities. The summit will include the launch of several new initiatives originated in 3GF’s public-private partnerships, including a new initiative to combat climate change and an alliance working to reduce barriers to trade in green energy. Vietnam has participated in the 3GF since its first conference/meeting in 2011. With the signing of the formal memorandum of understanding on November 9, 2015, Vietnam has become the 8th core government partner of 3GF. 3GF was initiated by the Danish government in 2011 in close collaboration with South Korea and Mexico. Since then, China, Kenya, Qatar, and Ethiopia have joined the platform. This year, Vietnam and Chile join as official 3GF partner countries. (Vov.vn June 6, VIR June 6)
