Vietnam, Denmark Sign MoU to Promote Green Growth

Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Denmark’s Ministry of Environment and Food on Nov. 9 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), paving the way for the European country to assist the Southeast Asian nation in enhancing green growth, state media has reported. By signing the MoU, Vietnam officially becomes the first ASEAN country participating in the Global Green Growth Forum and the 8th core member of the forum which is led by Denmark and South Korea. The move will allow Vietnam to gain benefits in the environmental sector and sustainable development, said Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang, adding the country committed to play an active role in the forum. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Danish Minister for Environment and Food Eva Kjer Hansen said that there were significant commitments and strong signals from Vietnam about green growth to the world, especially at the time countries across the world were preparing for the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21). The forum is a global platform that initiates and enables scalable green growth solutions through an annual process. It convenes government agencies, businesses, investors and international organizations to act together for inclusive green growth. (vov.vn Nov 10)
