Vietnam Drafting Plan of High School Graduation Exam amid COVID-19

Provincial/municipal Departments of Education and Training (DoET) in Vietnam are drafting plans to host the national high school graduation exam, with adaptation to COVID-19 epidemic, state media reported. Localities are preparing plans for exam rooms, body heat thermometers, disinfection liquid, exam takers’ facemasks, picking up and dropping off places of exam locations, among others. Notable, some localities are drafting an option of hosting the exam inside quarantine areas. At the government meeting on July 29 on COVID-19, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do insisted on hosting the exam, except for COVID-19 patients. He added that such exam takers are subject to graduation via other mechanisms. The exam is scheduled on August 8-10. The exam will have 900,152 exam takers, up 13,500 y/y. The ratio of students registering to advance to higher education is 71%, down 3 percentage points y/y.
