Vietnam Education Sector Builds 60,000 Restrooms in Last Academic Year

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) conducted many projects on improving learning facilities in the 2018-2019 academic year, including the construction of 38,165 clean water facilities, 60,000 new restrooms, and the addition of 14,308 classrooms, state media reported. Such achievements are part of the MoET’s projects, tasks on education for mountainous, needy areas and people of ethnic minority in 2016-2020, learning facilities for preschools and primary schools in 2017-2025, among others. Such tasks were approved by the prime minister. However, the MoET stressed that despite such achievements, many problems remain, including a low rate of stable classrooms at 74.9% across Vietnam. The rates are lower, at 53.2% in northern Ha Giang province, 48.8% in southern Soc Trang province, among others. (VietnamNet, Lao Dong)
