Vietnam Envir Ministry, WB Foster Cooperation for Sustainable Development

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha on March 1 had a virtual meeting with Ms. Carolyn Tuck, country director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam to discuss some mutual interests and boost their cooperation for sustainable development, state media reported. During the talks, the two sides exchanged the signing of the Green Growth and Climate Change Policy Support Project Agreement. They also discussed the supports of the WB in Vietnam in terms of making legal frameworks, conducting supervision and investment in natural disaster prevention, developing coastal planning and marine economic, and managing ocean plastic wastes. Vietnam hoped the WB will call on developed partners to work with Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) to plan solutions to respond to the climate changes in the central coast, Central Highlands, and northern mountainous regions in Vietnam, Mr. Ha said. In reply, Ms. Carolyn Tuck affirmed that WB experts will work closely with the MonNRE to fulfill the targets. (Bao Tai Nguyen Moi Truong, Tai Nguyen Moi Truong)
