Vietnam, EU Hold Conference on Green Growth in Hanoi

The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam on Oct 11 held a seminar on green growth policy, state media reported. The high-level event, entitled "Vietnam Green Growth Strategy: Pathways towards Implementing the Paris Agreement - Vietnam & EU Experience," focuses on green growth action plans which cover many fields, including resource mobilization, institutional and policy improvement, capacity enhancement and technology, contributing to concretizing the country's actions towards the sustainable development goals by 2030. EU delegates shared their experiences in decision-making and implementation of green growth strategies in Europe and outlined some issues to help Vietnam on the long-term sustainable growth policy. Earlier, the EU has pledged to fund Vietnam EUR350 ($390 million) for restructure in energy sector from now till 2021, particularly through renewable energy policies planning and execution.
