Vietnam Firm Helps Cuba Overcome Disaster Consequences

Vietnam’s Thai Binh Trading Corporation has pledged an aid package worth $150,000 to help Cuban people to surmount the consequences caused by Hurricane Sandy. A ceremony to present the gift in a symbolic manner was organized in Havana July 30. The aid package, including building materials and furniture, arrived in Cuba on July 18 while the remaining will be delivered on August 10. Hurricane Sandy swept through Cuba in Oct 2012, claiming 11 lives and devastating over 60,000 houses and public buildings with a total estimated damage of $88 million.
