Vietnam Firm Wins $24.55M Packages for $1.47B JICA-, WB-funded Expressway

A Vietnamese consortium between Vietnam Construction and Import-Export JS Corp. (VCG), known as Vinaconex and Intelligent Building Solution JSC has won packages worth VND552.5 billion ($24.55 million) in total for the Danang-Quang Ngai expressway. Under contracts signed with Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), the consortium will carry out Package 14A1 at cost of VND280.5 billion and Package 14A2 at cost of VND272 billion in 18 months. The packages aim to ensure traffic safety and install lighting system for a section of the expressway. The 140-km expressway has total investment of $1.47 billion with majority of the sum coming from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the WB. The expressway is the first of its kind in central Vietnam. As part of the North-South expressway project, the Danang-Quang Ngai Expressway will have six lanes.
