Vietnam Gets $2.5M Grant from WB, Japan to Give Vulnerable People Legal Aid

The World Bank and the State Bank of Vietnam (BV) have signed an agreement to disburse a $2.5 million grant from the Japan Social Development Fund to finance a project on stepping up legal aid services for nearly 10,000 vulnerable people in two northern provinces of Dien Bien and Yen Bai, local media reported.

The beneficiaries are people of ethnic minorities, the poor, victims of gender violence, and people with disabilities.

The 2022-2026 project, to be implemented by the Ministry of Justice, will help improve access to and promote the use of legal aid services; enhance capability for legal aid practitioners, and expand the network of legal aid service providers.
