Vietnam Hanoi Accelerates Schools Tuition Fees Collection via Card

The municipal Department of Education and Training in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi on September 19 issued a document on boosting non-cash payments in education sector, local media reported. This decision is in accordance with Decree 86/2015/ND-CP of the government on the mechanism for collection and management of tuition fees and tuition fee reduction, exemption until 2020-2021 academic year. The department requested sub-units and educational institutions in the area to coordinate with banks in providing non-cash tuition payment services. In particular, payment solutions on mobile devices and payments via cards are prioritized. The department sets the deadline on November 30 for educational units to complete the scheme. Another locality applying for non-cash payment in school is Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City, which has 300 general schools applying the model.
