Vietnam Hanoi Records AQI at 163 on Jan 6, Air Pollution’s Causes Revealed

The Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment has pointed out several reasons for the serious air pollution after the monitoring results of the city at 9:00 a.m. today [January 6] recorded the air quality index (AQI) at 163, which is the unhealthy level, in the inner districts, the local newswire VnExpress reported. Accordingly, the weather change and the topography of Hanoi are the main reasons. Hanoi is wrapped by many industrial zones and clusters of northern localities of Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, and Thai Nguyen, the department stated. The department also pointed out the emission reasons for pollution, including the situation of stagnant garbage, the burning of domestic waste and straw, and infrastructure construction in the city.
