Vietnam Hanoi Records Rare Dengue Fever Cases in First Week of Aug

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi recorded 248 dengue fever cases, including many cases of rare dengue virus serotype 4, in the first week of August, state media reported. The city recorded 1,850 dengue fever cases in the year to date, focusing on the inner and nearby regions of the city. Vietnam has recorded 125,000 dengue fever cases including 15 deaths since the beginning of this year, local media reported, citing the latest report from the Ministry of Health to the Government Office. A research group from the Pasteur Institute in Vietnam’s southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City has completed their research into a vaccine against dengue fever, which is awaiting ethical approval from the Ministry of Health (MoH) before being put into use.
