Vietnam HCM City Provides Free Polio Vaccine to over 200,000 Children

The Department of Health in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City has recently started a campaign to provide free polio vaccine to kids under five years old, state media reported. Under the campaign, it is scheduled that more than 200,000 children in district 12, Go Vap, Hoc Mon, Thu Duc, Binh Chanh, Tan Phu and Binh Tan will receive polio vaccine in preschools and local medical centers. The campaign has two phases, including the first one starts from March 1 to March 9 and the second is from April 10 to April 12. Before Vietnam used OPV vaccine which has three tubes but medical experts in the world supposed to be unnecessary to take those three, said Le Hong Nga, head of the Planning Ward of the municipal Preventive Medicine Center, adding that this time children will take two tubes of vaccine and they will receive one more in the National Expanded Immunization Program.
