Vietnam Hopes to Receive More Help from World Health Organization: PM

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has proposed the World Health Organization (WHO) increase technical and financial assistance for Vietnam, particularly in building healthcare policies and in the preparation and adaptation to public health issues, state media reported. He made the statement during a reception for Shin Young-soo, WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, on September 20. For his side, Mr. Shin said Vietnam has had impressive achievements in health care. Though Vietnam’s per capita income is about $2,000, many of its accomplishments, especially the average longevity, are comparable to countries with a per capita income of $20,000. In addition, he hopes the Vietnamese government will continue improving the healthcare system and expanding the number of people with health insurance. (tuyengiao.vn Sep 21, vietnamplus.vn Sep 20)
