Vietnam Increases COVID-19 Quarantine Period to 21 Days amid New Outbreaks

Vietnam has increased the quarantine period for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) new suspected cases to 21 days from 14 days in the previous outbreaks, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said. Mr. Dam made the order as he believed that there is a gap in the supervision over people who have just ended their quarantine time. He added that as the new virus variant found in Hai Duong province has a rapid transmission speed, and infections in the community may have spread the disease to four rounds of their contacts. Local health authorities have imposed a lockdown on Chi Linh town in the northern province of Hai Duong, home to 220,000 people, for 21 days starting from January 28 noon.
