Vietnam-Japan University Opens First Training Courses

The Vietnam-Japan University (VJV) last week launched the academic year 2016-2017 and officially started its first training courses, state media reported. The VJU was established as the seventh member college of the Hanoi-based Vietnam National University (VNU) under a decision signed by the Prime Minister in July 2014, which was part of efforts to realize the two government’s policy of boosting bilateral cooperation in education. The university has both Vietnamese and Japanese members in its management and teaching staff. In the first year of operation, the university offers six master’s training courses, including nano technology, environmental technique, infrastructure technique, regional studies, public policies, and business administration. According to the school’s rector, at least half of the post graduate students will have a chance to get a three-month internship at universities, research institutions and enterprises in Japan. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and related Japanese schools will send experienced lecturers to take charge of at least 50% of specialized modules in each course. The rest will be covered by the VNU and VJU lecturers. (giaoduc.net.vn Sep 10, plo.vn Sep 9)
