Vietnam Kicks off $126M Project to Develop Grassroot Health Systems

The Ministry of Health (MoH) on August 25 kicked off a project on developing grassroot health systems across 13 localities in Vietnam, with an estimated investment of $126 million in five years, state media reported. Of the sum, $80 million will come from World Bank’s loan, $25 million from non-refundable aids, and the rest from the ministry’s reciprocal capital. In the project, the ministry will build 138 commune-level health facilities and upgrade 325 others, as well as upgrade 12 district-level ones in 13 localities. Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long hoped the project to renovate Vietnam’s grassroot health systems in 2020-2024, contributing to the national healthcare works.
