The Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC), under the Ministry of Health, on August 6 launched a national campaign to raise the public awareness of HIV/AIDS as a communicable disease which could be prevented and controlled, state media reported. The “Undetectable-Untransmittable” (“Khong phat hien-Khong lay nhiem”) campaign will be carried out in major localities in the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), namely Quang Ninh, Haiphong City, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Long An, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, and Dong Nai, from September to December 2019. Currently, Vietnam has 230,000 people living with HIV, 20% of them are in Ho Chi Minh City. Around 135,000 HIV carriers are under Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment.
