Vietnam Ministry Calls Localities to Stop Using IELTS for High School Admissions
The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has called on provinces and cities to stop giving priority to candidates with IELTS certificates for admission to tenth grade, local media reported.
In a notice issued on February 23, the ministry cited instances of "regulations-violating" practices in public school admissions, particularly concerning exemptions from exams or bonus points for provincial-level excellent student awardees or foreign language certificate holders.
The ministry urged adherence to 2019 admissions regulations for lower and upper secondary education and announced plans to inspect and audit grade 10 admissions processes in non-compliant areas. (Bao Chinh Phu, VnExpress English, VietnamNet)
