Vietnam Ministry to Modify University Entrance Exams This Year

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has made changes to the university and college entrance exams for this year in order to improve the quality of the most important test for students nationwide, state media reported. First, there is a change in the regulations for admission. This year, each contestant is allowed to register for a maximum of two institutions. In each school up to two majors can be selected. Last year it was one school and four majors. The change gives applicants the opportunity to select their favorite field of study in two different schools. In addition, students can stay at home and register online or by mail in order to reduce the traveling time and money spent. The MoET will manage common databases for schools to access and manage the registration of candidates as prescribed, to avoid repeating the shortcomings of 2015. Currently, some universities and colleges have started to announce their examination plans, including HCM City National University, Lac Hong University, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology, the University of Economics HCM City and HCM City University of Transport. Last year, congestion at the time of score publication stopped some of the millions of students and parents from being able to access the test results. (vietnamnews.vn Feb 15)
