Vietnam MoH Steps up Border Screening to Prevent Unknown Disease from China

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health (MoH) has asked agencies to tighten their management over border gates to prevent a type of “unknown viral pneumonia” found in China from entering the country, state media reported. The MoH is collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) to propose solutions to prevent the outbreak of the disease. As of December 31, 2019, 27 people contracted the unknown disease in China’s central city of Wuhan, with seven of whom being in serious condition. The disease is suspected of being linked to severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS, which left hundreds of people dead a decade ago. (VTV, VnEconomy, Bao Chinh Phu, Nhan Dan)
