Vietnam to Need $307.7M Annually to Build Student Dorms in 2011-2015

Vietnam will need VND6 trillion ($307.7 million) to build student dormitories yearly in the 2011-2015 period to meet 60% of students’ accommodation demand. Between 2009 and 2010, VND8 trillion has been disbursed to provide 200,000-300,000 accommodations for students, the Kinh Te Hop Tac newspaper reported Dec 16. By August, 2010, the country kicked off 94 projects of this kind, of which seven have been put into operation with 150,000 accommodations. As scheduled, 50 other projects will be completed by the end of this year. Vietnam now has about three million students at 700 universities, colleges and vocational training schools. Existing dormitories can meet only 20% of their needs. (Kinh Te Hop Tac - Cooperative Economy Dec 16 p2)
