Vietnam Needs Extra $353M for Approved Healthcare Projects

Vietnam is in short of VND7.5 trillion ($353.77 million) for continuing the implementation of healthcare projects approved in the first six months of this year, the Ministry of Health said at a meeting in Hanoi on Aug 20. Of the sum, VND4.5 trillion will be allocated to healthcare services, VND1.5 trillion to manpower training, and VND1 trillion to science and technology research. The capital allocated to the health sector was cut by 20% on year to VND8.5 trillion in 2013. Funds mobilized from government bonds amounted to only 25% of the last year’s figure. The government disbursed VND3.85 trillion for medical projects in the first six months of this year, fulfilling 45.23% of the whole-year target. (Dau Tu – Investment Aug 21 p2)
