Vietnam Oct State Funds for Education Projects Rise 2% on Month

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) disbursed an estimated VND48 billion ($2.13 million) worth of state funding for its projects in October, a decrease of 2.13% from September, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. Disbursement of state fund for education projects was VND484 billion in the first ten months of this year, down 34.8% and fulfilling 69.4% of the full-year target. Economists have recently warned of low disbursement for projects in the education and training sector, while foreign direct investment (FDI) in the sector remains modest. By Oct 20, Vietnam had attracted around 168 FDI projects in the sector with a total pledged capital of $663.19 million. The figure made up only 0.29% of total values of the country’s FDI projects.
