Vietnam Performs Liver Transplant on Patient with Rare Syndrome for First Time
Vietnamese doctors successfully performed a liver transplant on a patient with the rare Budd-Chiari syndrome for the first time, Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach, deputy director of Children’s Hospital 2 announced at a press conference about the hospital’s transplants.
Dr. Thach noted that this marked the 36th liver transplant performed by the hospital.
The first liver transplant at Children’s Hospital 2 was carried out in May 2005. The hospital aims to perform 50 liver transplants by April 30, 2025. Currently, around 200 patients at the hospital are in need of liver transplants, some of whom are in critical condition. (Suc Khoe Doi Song)
