Vietnam PM Approves Air Quality Action Plan by 2020, Vision to 2025

The Vietnamese prime minister has issued Decision 985a/QD-TTg to approve the national air quality action plan by 2020, with a vision to 2025, announced Head of the Vietnam Environment Administration Nguyen Van Tai. The action plan sets out measures aimed at improving the air quality by using emission inventories to help determine significant sources of air pollutants and supervise air quality on both regional and local scales. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has built a control strategy related to air quality and completed legal document on environment protection. Notably, the ministry has implemented Air Quality Law according to the Environment Law 2014 with the focus on management and monitoring sources of air pollution and individual responsibility. Recently, the air quality of Vietnam’s two biggest cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has reached the alarming levels. (SGGPNews, SGGPnews, SGGPnews)
