Vietnam PM Demands More Efforts to Prevent Forest Fires

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a dispatch on April 4 to order localities, ministries, and agencies to strengthen forest fire prevention and control measures, local media reported.

The move is made as unusually hot weather is baking the southern and Central Highlands regions as well as some northern provinces, causing a high risk of fire for many forests at dangerous and extremely dangerous levels.

In particular, Prime Minister Chinh requested relevant authorities to develop specific, detailed fire prevention and control plans, arrange staff and resources for the work, and review and make a list of forests at high risk of fire while further popularizing information about forest fire prevention and control, especially fire warnings and forecasting.
