Vietnam PM Demands Probe into Bribery Suspicion within Grade Cheating Case

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the Ministry of Public Security to investigate the suspicion of giving and receiving bribery within the grade cheating case and set the deadline on May 25, state media reported. The move came after many newspapers and newswires suspected that the wealthy parents of students made bribery, in order to bring their children into universities. PM Phuc also ordered the Ministry of Education and Training to strictly deal with the violations in Ha Giang. Many universities expelled 210 of 222 students, while the rest 12 are allowed to keep studying as their re-graded scores are above the entrance conditions. The police prosecuted 16 officials within the case, comprising eight from Son La, three from Hoa Binh, and five from Ha Giang.
